Texas Rich Book 1 in the Texas series edition by Fern Michaels Romance eBooks

The editing could use a little work, but this entire family saga is complex and an interesting read. My biggest complaint is that when they go from one character to the next within the same chapter, there is no separation. All of the "Texas" series has interesting characters that have very believable family dynamics. However, I will be reading along about Maggie and all of a sudden the story changes to Riley in the next paragraph without any transitions. I find myself starting over and then realizing the editor did it again. If the editor had separated, as so many do, with a simple 5 star line, or a swoosh between transitions it would be much easier to follow the change of characters.

I will say that this is not a fast read. The books are long and the story bogs down from time to time, but the characters are so engaging, I want to find out what happens next. Again, I am blaming the editor, because I have not had this experience with other Fern Michaels books, which are usually very fast paced.

Texas Rich Book 1 in the Texas series edition by Fern Michaels Romance eBooks Reviews

This is the first book in the Texas series. It begins with a very young Billie Ames, and how her life is forever changed when she falls in love with dashing sexy Moss Coleman. When her life is uprooted and she moves to Texas with her money hungry mother, she learns the hard way how things are done in the Coleman family. This book concentrates on how the many trials in Billie's life shape her as a person. I agree that this is a very intense emotional romance, and although I was left crying and sad, it was superbly written.
Being a Texas girl, I looked forward to reading this series. I was not disappointed. The descriptions of locations made me feel I was right there. I was immediately captured in the story and couldn't wait to begin the next book after finishing one. This is my second time reading the series...and not my last
GREAT beach read! No intellectualizing here, just a fun. family saga. There are lot of characters but you get a family tree which is key. I'm a Texan so it made it more readable. This is a quartet of books of which This one is the first. You MUST read them in order. Have fun!
This is a collection of three books; Texas Sunrise, Texas Fury a must read. I love Ferns style of writing, she does her homework in dept by researching the State the book is about. She leaves nothing out and the twist and turns of the plot just want you to keep on reading until all three books are read. Never heard of Fern I suggest you start with the Sisterhood Collection and from there God Mother's collection. Also Fern has many single titled books out and I can assure you that no book will disappoint you. So far I have read 17 single titled books Yesterday, Betrayal, Sins of Omission, Wish List Tuesday's Child, Fool Me Once I could list them all, they were such a great read. When Fern stops writing only then I will look for another author but until I have read her every book she is here to stay.
I have read many books by Fern Michaels, most of which I absolutely loved. I must say I was a little disappointed by this book. The book couldn't hold my interest and I didn't feel that the character development was there. The book jumped from one scene to another with out notice and the scene before didn't feel complete. At the completion of the book, I must say I felt a little disappointed. The book starts during WWII, and at the end of the book it's nearing the end of Vietnam. Through all the years that passed in the book, there wasn't any clue to the reader that the book was entering another year or decade. I am hopeful the other 3 books in the series are laid out just a little bit better. I think the book is worth reading, just start reading it with everything on the table. Happy reading!
Texas Rich is a story about "family". Yes, they are rich, but it shows how the rich have just as many problems in their families as the rest of us. This is the beginning . There are several (4 or 5) books to follow. I was actually sad when I came to the end of the last book as it was like I was saying goodbye to a family I had come to know personally. Fern Michaels did a fabulous job of weaving this family (several generations) throughout the whole series. I have recommended this series to several friends and they all have said the same thing.
I like books by Fern Michaels and expected to enjoy this one. As I read, I wondered when I'd get to the good part. Lots of typos and poor punctuation in this book, and that surprised me. Where were the editors? One paragraph was completely repeated word for word. The view point skipped from person to person on the same page, sometimes in the same paragraph. It was confusing. I prefer a chapter or scene break devoted to each character's point of view. I grew tired of waiting for Billie to develop spunk and backbone, and when she did, there was no major catalyst to cause it. I won't be reading any more of this series.
