Cate has been forced to join the Sisterhood and leave Finn and her sisters behind in order to protect those she loves from prosecution. She wasn’t allowed time to explain her choice to Finn, and she fears he will never forgive her. Homesick and lonely, she has to find her place in the Sisterhood and accept the fact that the sisters are her new family. She finds herself torn between two of the elder sisters, the head sister, Sister Cora, and Sister Inez, who is power-hungry and seeks to use Cate as a weapon to bring down the Brotherhood. Cate tries to resist Sister Inez, who she doesn’t trust, but finds her plans thwarted when her sisters also join the Sisterhood and Maura sides with Sister Inez. Now Cate fears Sister Inez will use Maura as her weapon against Cate and the Brotherhood to satisfy her thirst for power and revenge. As tensions grow between the Cate and Maura, Cate wonders just how far Maura will go to please Sister Inez and how she can possibly save her sister from being manipulated. Meanwhile, Tess begins to keep secrets from Cate, causing Cate to worry about her as well. The Brotherhood is going after girls suspected of witchcraft like never before since the last Terror. Is there any way for Cate to help the Sisterhood and save these girls without starting a war between the Brotherhood and the Sisters? Will there be a new Terror after all, despite Cate’s efforts to peacefully resolve things?

I loved Star Cursed just as much as I loved Born Wicked. I understood Cate’s abiding love for Maura, but hated Maura at the same time. The characters were just as real as they were in Born Wicked, and the new characters that were introduced had depth and a feeling of realness as well. I worried for Cate, Tess and Finn as I was so drawn into the story I felt I was experiencing their troubles right along with them. I hated Sister Inez and kept hoping that Maura would eventually come to her senses and see her for the manipulative, power-hungry bitch that she was. There is a lot of action in Star Cursed and the book kept me on the edge of my seat, turning pages quickly and not wanting to put it down. It was a fast, enjoyable, and engrossing read. The ending shocked me and had me buying the third book, Sisters’ Fate, as soon as I was finished with Star Cursed. I highly recommend both Born Wicked and Star Cursed. This is a great series!

Star Cursed Jessica Spotswood Books Reviews

The book is amazing ! My friend Joanna give me the first book , born wicked , and I could not put it down at all! Loved it ! Same goes for this one ! Ina. World for the lord is seen as right and all woman mostly witches seen as bad , is it safer to be with ones who kind ? Or to fight rouge in a sea of change ? Can cate change the fate of her sisters lives ? Or is she doomed to be a healer and bringing of death ?

The seller however was written to many times on the matter of the book. I had not gotten on it the arrival date or the time between then. The tracking system said it was at my house when in fact it was not. I emailed and was able to get my money back.
This book was just as good as book one, Born Wicked, if not better. The story kept getting so intertwined and I never caught on what was going to happen next. I had my theories but I was usually wrong. I loved the feud with the sisters, I mean I wish they would all get along of course but it definitely makes the story that much more interesting. You start to wonder if Maura, the middle sis, is evil or a psychopath. Although you can still relate to her because you can see where she has developed the insecurities that have led to her downfall. Cate is a great protagonist and I like that she isn't the biggest and baddest witch, it's a good change where in most books, the main character is the best and it's unbelievable. It's nice when they are just closer to average. Finn is adorable and even though I thought his and Cate's love was a little too much like instant love, it's still fun to read and swoon over. Finishing the book, I am left with an ache and wanting the book 3 in my hands now. Jessica Spotswood, please answer my prayer lol. This book definitely leaves you on a cliff hanger and I cannot wait until August to get book 3!!
Book One starts out with 3 sisters who are witches, each with a unique talent of her own. The sisters have to keep their talents a secret for fear that they will be imprisoned because witchcraft is against the law. The first book reveals each of the sister's talents in detail. As the eldest comes of age, she is expected to marry. Many young men take an interest in her but she doesn't want to marry and leave her sisters. Their mother died and she is responsible for her sisters. As we move into book two, the eldest sister is taken away from her sisters to join a "religious" sisterhood against her wishes. She goes to the sisterhood to protect her youngest sister who has an incredible talent that would be cause for her imprisonment or death if she was found out. The eldest sister doesn't trust the sisterhood and pretends she's the one with the amazing talent to protect her sister from them. But as time passes, both of her sisters join her. Then the sisters discover that the sisterhood is really a sisterhood of witches who pretend to be "religious" women who are faithful to the brotherhood who hate witches. When the brothers capture a witch, they sometimes torture her before either imprisoning her or locking her into mental asylum where she is treated with cruelty. As Book Two is closing, the sisters go to a mental institution to try to rescue all of the witches there. But several witches are either injured badly or killed. Just as they return to the sisterhood's house, the brotherhood, who are now suspicious of the sisterhood, pushes into the sister's house and begins to question them all. These books are imaginative and well written. If you enjoy fantasy books as much as I do, you'll enjoy these books very much.
